Isn't this so cute? I just love this little angel centerpiece. I learned this from Robbie Furman and it is so great.

Here are a few headband designs that I learned from Alberto Nava. These are really easy to wear and simple to make. I just love this concept.

Busy Summer 08/11/2010

I know I haven't posted in a while, sorry about that. It's been a typical busy summer. Lots of balloon things happening, lots of family things happening. I haven't had much free time to play with new balloon designs so there hasn't been much to blog.  I do have a few public events in September so if you want to come say hello and get a balloon or two, I'll let you know when and where those events are going to be .

Little Monsters 06/27/2010

For the May/June column at BHQ, an amazing balloon entertainer named Harvey posted the instructions for these little monsters. They are super adorable and so simple. I really love their little bodies. I bet I'll be making these frequently. Thanks Harvey--great design!

Swords 06/22/2010

Tonight I played with swords. Here are my favorites. Also, since 'sword' has the word 'word' in it, shouldn't it be pronounced like 'word' with an 's' on the front? English is confusing.

Venture Outdoors Festival, year 2 06/19/2010

Today was the 5th annual Millcreek Venture Outdoors Festival. This was my 2nd year twisting balloons for the festival. Last year was pretty dreadful due to stormy weather. This year the weather was great. This year could have gone better, I was planning on it going better, but it was still a whole lot of fun. My balloons were great. My booth was great. There was a pretty fair crowd and they were all very friendly. I gave lots of balloons to smiling children and adults. That's what I love about balloon twisting...those smiles.

I am disappointed in the organizers and I have to really weigh out the pros and cons to see if I'll do it again next year. Both years I have been invited by the organizers .  I really love working with my contacts there. They are so friendly and so happy to see me, which feels great but from a business perspective, I've got to really look at the benefits. I've got a year to do that, though.

It really was such a fun day. I had my sisters with me and they make everything more fun. We had good food and good company and good weather...all in all it was a successful day. I am happy I had this gig.

Orange Menu Update 06/18/2010

I had my orange menu updated a little bit this week. I had been using it for about a year and felt like an update was in order. I added a couple new items and deleted a couple items and changed a couple more items.

It is definitely my most used menu so the bit of fine-tuning on this update is only going to help my gigs go better. Also, because I've been doing balloon gigs for a couple years now, I'm getting repeat business. A fresh, updated menu will give the clients new things to see. I'm happy with the changes.

Free-standing Tulip 06/17/2010

I learned a new flower today. I've made one similar before but this one is more full and makes a very nice simple centerpiece. What do you think of it? I made it with 160-size balloons so it's sort of dainty and delicate. I really like it. I'm calling it a tulip.

Yo-yo Balloons 06/17/2010

I love yo-yo balloons. They are a super heavy-duty, round water balloon with an elastic string attached. They are filled 1/3 with water and 2/3 with air and you play with them like a yo-yo. They are very fun, colorful and quite entertaining.  You can see them in action here on You Tube.

When I do summer-time, outdoor gigs I like to bring yo-yo balloons. They are very good sellers and they're just so fun. The only bad thing about yo-yo balloons is filling them. It takes me about 2 hours to fill 100 yo-yo balloons and attach the strings. It's not hard work, it just takes time. It is time well spent and totally worth it but it is still time I have to set aside just for that.

Well, I'm sitting here blogging and I should be filling the balloons for the Millcreek Venture Outdoors Festival this weekend. Yep, I admit it.  I'm stalling. Time to get to work. They are not going to fill themselves.
